Because of my plan, I had to climb up and down many stairs and traverse vast marble floors, a good workout. It took asking two different guards before I found The Luxury of Time, another petite space located in a passageway leading to larger exhibits on either side. The decorative qualities of European clocks and watches crafted from the 16th through 19 centuries was on view. An intriguing automaton clock from Germany and a gem encrusted mantel clock got my attention. The items were rare, valuable and intricate but no longer tell time. The only clock sound came from a looping video about clock construction. From now on my chiming clocks at home will get new respect.
